SKILVANTA

Terms of Service

Production Service  ·  Last Updated: 28 August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern authorised access to the live SKILVANTA platform for the Barbados Gateway Training Initiative. The deployment operates under the Ministry of Technological and Vocational Training, Barbados, is coordinated through the TVET Council, and is delivered by BCC, BVTB and SJPI, with IsleBridgeOne as technology partner. Users may enter operational information only for approved programme purposes and must follow their institution’s privacy, records-management and information-security requirements.

1. Who May Use This Platform

SKILVANTA is a closed platform available exclusively to:

  • Registered trainees in an authorised participating programme
  • Trainers and facilitators assigned by a participating institution
  • Approved employer partners participating in placements
  • Institution administrators, programme teams, finance officers, and authorised Ministry officials
  • Named super administrators operating and maintaining the platform

Prospective trainees may submit the public application without signing in, or optionally link a Google or Microsoft identity. Application submission does not create trainee status or portal access. Staff accounts must be pre-provisioned, use an official institution email, and sign in with email and password. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age; users under 18 must have appropriate parental or guardian consent.

2. Your Account

When you register or receive access to SKILVANTA, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential and not share your account with anyone
  • Notify your Programme Administrator or contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Use only your own personal SKILVANTA account — creating multiple accounts is prohibited

Trainee social sign-in: Approved social sign-in is available only to trainees. SKILVANTA receives the account email and display name solely for authentication. Staff OAuth is prohibited; staff must use a validated official institution email and password.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use SKILVANTA only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent attendance check-ins or registration information
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorised to access
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the platform or its infrastructure
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the platform's source code
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the platform
  • Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any other harmful code
  • Impersonate another user, trainer, employer, or programme official
  • Circumvent or attempt to bypass any authentication or security mechanism
  • Use the platform to harass, intimidate, or harm any other user

Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access, and may be referred to the relevant authorities.

4. Attendance & Programme Obligations

As a trainee or trainer using SKILVANTA, you acknowledge that:

  • Digital check-in records (including GPS location data) are official attendance records for the assigned programme
  • Submitting a false or fraudulent check-in is a serious breach of programme rules and these Terms
  • Attendance records directly affect your stipend eligibility and programme standing
  • Trainers confirming attendance accept responsibility for the accuracy of those confirmations
  • Employers confirming job attachment attendance accept responsibility for the accuracy of those records
  • Operational records are auditable by authorised institution or platform administrators; Ministry officials receive aggregate oversight by default

5. Intellectual Property

Platform software, branding and design, and institution- or programme-supplied course materials remain the property of their respective rights holders and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the platform solely for authorised training, administration, oversight or placement activity. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from protected content without permission.

6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

SKILVANTA is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the relevant programme operator, participating institution and authorised technology provider shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, stipend payments, or programme standing arising from technical failures beyond our reasonable control
  • Actions taken by third parties who gain unauthorised access to your account
  • Delays or failures caused by telecommunications providers, internet outages, or natural disasters

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

7. Termination of Access

SKILVANTA may suspend or terminate your access to the platform:

  • Upon withdrawal or completion of your authorised programme participation
  • If you breach any of these Terms
  • If you provide fraudulent information or engage in dishonest conduct
  • At the discretion of the Programme Administrator where there is a legitimate reason

Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Barbados. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of SKILVANTA shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Barbados.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the law, platform features, or programme operations. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email or in-platform notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
